Curiosity has no age and neither does research. Over the past few months, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to speak with so many parents and young students from 6th grade to high school about their passions, their questions, and their dreams.
Whether it’s sports, music, painting, or solving the world’s biggest problems, one thing is clear: these young minds are thinking deeply. They’re asking powerful questions like, “How does e-waste impact the circular economy?”, “Why is Artificial Intelligence necessary?”, “How does ESG influence company valuation?”
I remember one student who wanted to explore how ESG impacts firm valuation, and I was floored by the depth of thought.
But with every conversation, I also hear common concerns from parents:
Can a 6th to 12th grader really do research?
With all the academic pressure, is it even feasible?
What exactly is an academic research publication?
Does it matter to college admissions?
So, here is the answer!
If your child is in Grade 6th to Garde 12th, they are already doing research. Their questions are valid, rich, and worth exploring. All they need is the right mentorship to turn those questions into structured hypotheses, and eventually, a research publication.
Research isn’t a race. It’s not a course with a deadline. It’s about slowing down, asking the right questions, and contributing meaningfully to the world.
And yes, academic publications matter. They show a student’s ability to think critically, investigate deeply, and communicate rigorously. It adds immense value to college applications, scholarships, and beyond. So, to all the parents and students wondering if it is “too early” or “too late” to begin a research journey.
